💡 AliExpress Logistics & Tracking Hub
AliExpress Logistics & Tracking Hub
Every way to track an AliExpress order — and the logistics network behind it
AliExpress is unusual among cross-border marketplaces: it's backed by its own logistics arm, Cainiao. But sellers can still choose other carriers, so which network actually has your package depends on the shipping method chosen at checkout. This hub links straight to AliExpress's own tracking, dispute, seller, and developer pages, plus every carrier that might be involved.

Section 02
How AliExpress's Logistics Model Actually Works
Three shipping paths coexist on AliExpress, and which one your order takes decides everything about speed and tracking detail.
Cainiao / Economy shipping
CheapestThe budget option: items move through Cainiao's consolidated network (e.g. "Cainiao Super Economy"), often handed to China Post or a postal partner, then a local post office for last-mile delivery. Slow, and tracking can go quiet for stretches.
AliExpress Standard Shipping
StandardA more managed, trackable cross-border option combining multiple logistics partners under one umbrella — generally faster and more consistently tracked than pure economy shipping.
Local+ / regional warehouses
FastestAliExpress's newer domestic-style option: products held in certified regional warehouses (UK, Spain, France, Poland, Germany, and more) ship without an international leg at all.
Section 03
AliExpress Tracking Systems
Because multiple logistics partners can touch a single order, tracking on AliExpress runs through several layers.
Section 04
AliExpress Order Numbers vs. Tracking Numbers
Order number ≠ tracking number. AliExpress does not use one universal tracking format — the number depends on which logistics partner is actually handling the parcel at that stage.
| Identifier | Used For | Customer Visible? | Tracking Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order Number | Identifying your purchase inside AliExpress's system (e.g. a long numeric ID) | Yes | Not a tracking number; used to look up the order in "My Orders" |
| Logistics / Tracking Number | Following the physical parcel once it's handed to a carrier | Yes, once assigned | Entered on AliExpress's own tracking page, Cainiao's tracker, or the destination carrier's site |
| Cainiao Consolidated Number | Cross-border movement through Cainiao's network | Often shown first | Trackable on global.cainiao.com |
| Local/Last-Mile Number | Domestic handoff once the parcel reaches the destination country | May appear partway through the shipment | Trackable on the local postal or courier service's own site |
The order number and tracking number are never interchangeable — a common source of failed lookups is pasting the AliExpress order ID into a carrier's tracking box instead of the actual logistics tracking number.
Section 05
AliExpress Carrier Ecosystem
Cainiao is the backbone for most cross-border AliExpress shipments, but the actual last-mile carrier varies enormously by destination country.
| Carrier / Network | Role | Typical Region | Track Here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cainiao | Alibaba's own logistics arm; consolidates and coordinates most cross-border AliExpress shipments | Global (origin + partner network) | global.cainiao.com ↗ |
| China Post / ePacket-style services | Common export carrier for economy shipments | Export leg from China | Tracks via Cainiao or the destination carrier once handed off |
| USPS | Common last-mile carrier | United States | tools.usps.com ↗ |
| Royal Mail | Common last-mile carrier | United Kingdom | royalmail.com ↗ |
| Canada Post | Common last-mile carrier | Canada | canadapost-postescanada.ca ↗ |
| Australia Post | Common last-mile carrier | Australia | auspost.com.au ↗ |
| DHL / FedEx / UPS | Used for faster, paid express shipping options | International, especially higher-value orders | Track on each carrier's own site |
| Local+ regional carriers | Domestic delivery from AliExpress's regional (UK/EU) warehouses | UK, Spain, France, Poland, Germany, and more | Shown on the order page once assigned |
Coverage and speed vary a great deal by destination country — always check the specific carrier and tracking number shown on your AliExpress order rather than assuming one network handled the whole journey.
Section 06 — Troubleshooting
"Who is delivering my AliExpress package?"
Five steps to identify the current carrier and open the right tracking page.
Open "My Orders"
Sign in and check My Orders for the order's current logistics tracking number.
Check AliExpress's own tracking view first
It confirms shipment status and shows buyer-protection context alongside the tracking timeline.
Cross-check on Cainiao
Paste the same number into global.cainiao.com — it often shows more granular cross-border events.
Watch for a second, local tracking number
Once the parcel reaches your country, a national postal or courier tracking number often takes over — check your order page again a week or two in.
No updates for 7+ days? Message the seller
If the estimated delivery date has passed, use AliExpress's Buyer Protection dispute process before the protection window closes.
Track your AliExpress shipment
Jump to the tracker or go straight to AliExpress's own order page.
Section 07
AliExpress Shipment Lifecycle (Standard Cross-Border Path)
Where tracking visibility appears — and where it typically goes quiet — for a standard, China-origin order.
Order processed
The seller confirms and prepares the order — AliExpress notes this usually takes about a week for standard listings.
Handed to Cainiao / logistics partner
The seller ships to a consolidation point; a Cainiao or partner tracking number is generated.
Export & international transit
The parcel leaves China by air or sea freight. This is the most common stage for tracking to go quiet for days.
Customs clearance
Import processing in the destination country.
Local carrier handoff
A national post or local courier takes over, often generating a new, local tracking number.
Out for delivery
Final delivery stage on the local carrier's network.
Delivered
Confirmed on both the local carrier's site and inside your AliExpress order page.
Local+ orders from regional warehouses skip Stages 2–4 entirely, starting at Stage 5 — which is why they typically arrive in about a week instead of several.
Section 08
AliExpress Buyer Protection & Disputes
AliExpress's version of a money-back guarantee, tied directly to shipment tracking and a countdown timer.
How it works
Every order has a Buyer Protection window (commonly 30–90+ days, shown on the order page) during which a buyer can open a dispute if the item never arrives, is significantly different from the listing, or is faulty.
Timing matters
A dispute must be opened before the protection window closes — once it expires, options narrow significantly, so don't wait past the estimated delivery date if there's a problem.
What you'll need
Order number, tracking number, screenshots of tracking status, and photos of the item (if damaged, missing parts, or not as described).
Full policy: money-back guarantee, free returns, local warranty.

AliExpress Shipment Status Guide
Exact wording varies by carrier and logistics partner, but most AliExpress tracking updates map to one of these stages.
| Status | Meaning | What Happens Next |
|---|---|---|
| Order Processed | Seller confirmed and is preparing the shipment | Wait for a shipped notification and tracking number |
| Shipped / Awaiting Delivery | A logistics tracking number has been generated | Waiting for the first carrier scan |
| In Transit | Package is moving, often across multiple carriers | Gaps of several days during international transit are common |
| Arrived in Destination Country | Customs clearance underway | Local carrier handoff follows |
| Out for Delivery | Local carrier has the parcel for final delivery | Usually delivered same day |
| Delivered | Delivery completed | Confirm receipt on AliExpress to release payment to the seller |
| Delivery Exception | An issue prevented delivery | Check the local carrier's site, then contact the seller if unresolved |
